To give the Animal Kingdom its feel Disney needed to plant more than 4 million trees, plants, vines, grasses, shrubs and ground cover.

According to Disney, the planting bed lines for the safari were made by someone riding a motorcycle and using a spray paint can. The idea was that they wanted to simulate how fast the truck would be going and figure out where the plants should be located.
The road, according to Disney, is also part of the landscape design. Concrete was matched with the surrounding soil, then tires were rolled on it and stones, twigs and dirt were tossed on to the road to create that bumpy feeling.
Another quick fact: The largest tree that was replanted in Animal Kingdom is is located in Harambe village and tipped the scales at 90 tons.
