Disney Facts: Here's how much the animals eat at Animal Kingdom

Posted on 16:00 by john mical
We all know how much fun it is to dine at Walt Disney World with all the restaurants and take out places. We also know that we humans can consume some 6 million hot dogs a year at the park, but what about the animals at Disney's Animal Kingdom?

Well, according to Disney stats, the 1,000 animals at the Animal Kingdom consume about four tons of food a day. For perspective, that four and a half years of meals for the average person.

This consist of more than 2,000 pounds of vegetation and browse to the animals every day. And don't forget the menu of worms offered. There are night crawlers, and red wigglers, wax worms, yellow mealworms and even super mealworms. In total, about 40,000 worms a week. Also,as part of a healthy diet, don't forget the crickets, about 80,000 crickets a month.

To drink, it's water. There are 2.6 million gallons of water contained in various water features that come in contact with animals. On average, the entire volume of water is treated and filtered five times daily, which means that 15.6 million gallons of water are treated and filtered every day for freshness.

And how much do we humans eat at Disney World? The answer is here.
