DIsney Facts: A look at Expedition Everest ride

Posted on 17:48 by john mical

Here's a quick look at Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Heights: At just under 200 feet, Everest is the tallest of 18 mountains created by Disney Imagineers at Disney parks worldwide.

Falls: The ride includes an  80-foot drop.

Length: The track is nearly a half-mile long with twists and tight turns.

The train: The ride vehicle is odeled after an aging, steam-engine tea train which carries 34 passengers.

The Yeti: The Audio-Animatronic yeti has a potential thrust, in all of its hydraulic cylinders combined, of slightly over 259,000 pounds force.

The mountain range: To create the sense of an enormous mountain range, Imagineers used forced perspective by painting a “mural” of shadows across the face of the mountains.
